From the very beginning of creation, the first words God spoke into the world were “Let there be light.” This definitely was not an accident; it was intentional. Light wasn’t just a moment in time; it was a divine declaration. God was setting the tone for everything that would follow. Light became the first gift, the first guidance and the first picture of His heart towards us. Scripture tells us that God is light (1 John 1:5), and that “in His light, we see light” (Psalms 36:9). Wherever light shows up, revelation follows. Light exposes what was hidden, brings clarity where there was confusion, and reveals truth where there was uncertainty.

What is more powerful? Jesus came, the Light of the World, and in one sentence, He handed us an identity many of us struggle to believe, including me:

“You are the light of the world...” Matthew 5:14

That truth has weight. It carries identity. And it carries purpose.

I’ll be honest with you: stepping into this vision God gave me wasn’t easy. I ran away for a long time.

I didn’t feel bold. I didn’t feel qualified. I didn’t feel enough. I didn’t feel like “light.”

I felt more like a candle shoved under a basket, visible to no one, hesitant, dimmed by doubt, present, but hidden.

Have you ever felt like that?

That pull between knowing God called you…but feeling unsure about living it out?

Trust, it seemed like Jesus knew we would be like that. That’s why I think He asked us plainly:

“Who lights a lamp and puts it under a basket?” Matthew 5:15 TPT

Pause and meditate on that question for a second. Do you see what Jesus is trying to say?

Light was never created to hide.

Where light exists, it is seen. Always.

Whether it’s the glow of a candle, a spark from a lighter, a lamp in a room, or the rising sun, when light appears, darkness flees instantly. It doesn’t negotiate. It doesn’t struggle. It simply shifts.

In other words: Why hide what God Himself lit inside of you?

You were not created to be hidden but to be SEEN.

So I began to wonder, if Jesus, the Light of the World, calls you and me the light of the world… What does that look like?

Just before that, let’s pause again and notice the light around you.

• It’s not hiding.

• It’s not unsure.

• It’s not asking “Is it okay for me to be here?”

• It simply shines, and you see it without effort.

There are moments in life when you realize that God has been writing a story long before you understood the pages.

Looking back, I can see that many of the things I once questioned were actually invitations, invitations to trust deeper, to grow, and to walk closer with Jesus.

This space, The Journey, was created because of those moments.

Not the perfect moments.
Not the moments when everything made sense.

But the moments when faith was the only thing I could hold on to.

When I first began walking with God more deeply, I thought faith would mean having clear answers for everything. Instead, I discovered that faith is often about learning to trust God even when you cannot see the entire path.

There have been seasons of joy.
There have been seasons of stretching.
There have been seasons when God asked me to take steps that felt bigger than my comfort zone.

Yet through all of it, one truth has remained constant:

The Journey is a place where I will share reflections from my walk, and others walk with Jesus, the lessons, the questions, the encouragement, and the moments where God gently reminds us that we are never alone.

This space is not about perfection.

It is about honesty.

Because the truth is that many of us are walking through life carrying questions, hopes, prayers, and dreams that we are still learning to surrender to God.

My prayer is that as you read these reflections, you would be reminded of something simple but powerful:

Your journey matters.

Where you are today is not the end of your story. God is still writing.

Sometimes the journey looks like courage.
Sometimes it looks like waiting.
Sometimes it looks like choosing to trust God again after disappointment.

Wherever you are in your journey, you are not alone.

You are seen.
You are loved.
And God is still working in your life.
